Overview & Architecture
Digpatia Ghat was established in the 18th century by Raja Digpatia of East Bengal, who also built a magnificent mahal (palace) here in distinctive Bengali architectural style. Earlier part of Chousatti Ghat, it was separated and rebuilt over time. The palace, now known as Kashi Ashram, features beautiful porches adorned with old images of deities and saints. An 18th-century Shiva temple also graces the ghat. The Bengali influence is visible in the architectural details — ornate window frames and terracotta decorative elements.
