Varanasi's Agniveer window is fixed: the recruitment rally reaches the city on 2 February 2027
Young people in and around Kashi who are training for the army now have a date to train towards. Uttar Pradesh's next round of Agniveer recruitment rallies — the third such series in the state — begins on 17 August 2026 at Meerut and runs through to April 2027 across six cities, and Varanasi's turn comes from 2 to 27 February 2027. The rest of the calendar has been laid out too: Bareilly from 14 to 30 September 2026, Lucknow from 11 to 28 January 2027, and Ayodhya from 29 March to 14 April 2027. For anyone in Varanasi, Chandauli, Bhadohi, Ghazipur or Jaunpur with the rally in mind, that is roughly half a year of runway — long enough to build up running, fitness and paperwork properly rather than in a last-minute scramble, and long enough to plan travel and stay well before the crowd arrives. Preparations at the state level were reviewed by Chief Secretary S P Goyal at a meeting in Lok Bhavan, where officials were told to make sure candidates face no difficulty at the recruitment grounds. The instructions covered drinking water, sanitation and medical facilities at the venues, security and crowd management planned in advance, arrangements for candidates' travel and stay, and a traffic plan for each site — with medical services on hand for any emergency. The stated intention is that candidates coming from far-flung areas should find it easier to take part.
