Festival Significance
Onam is Kerala's biggest festival, celebrating the homecoming of the mythical King Mahabali. A 10-day harvest festival, it is marked by boat races (Vallam Kali), floral carpets (Pookalam), traditional feast (Onasadya), and Kathakali performances.
Rituals
Create Pookalam (flower rangoli) at the entrance. Prepare Onasadya — a grand vegetarian feast with 26+ dishes on banana leaf. Watch Vallam Kali (snake boat race). Perform Thiruvathira dance.
