Missed a seat? BHU and Kashi Vidyapith open second-chance admission windows this week

If you are a student in or around Varanasi who has not yet secured a college seat, this is a week to watch closely. Both of the city's big universities have opened fresh rounds to fill seats that fell vacant after regular counselling. At Banaras Hindu University, a mop-up round for around 1,200 undergraduate seats began on Saturday, 12 September, alongside rounds for postgraduate and BA-B.Ed programmes. The seats opened up because candidates allotted earlier did not report for admission, and the Central Admission Committee has put the vacancy details on the SAMARTH portal. The round is meant for CUET-qualified candidates; BA-B.Ed candidates report on 15 September (10 am to 4 pm) at Arya Mahila and Vasant College for Women, with seat allotments and fee payment following between 15 and 18 September. Committee chair Prof. Bhaskar Bhattacharya described it as a significant opportunity for CUET-qualified students still without admission. Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, meanwhile, has vacant seats in 26 undergraduate courses — among them the Bachelor of Drama and BA (Honours) in Mass Communication. On the Vice-Chancellor's direction, eligible candidates who applied online earlier can shift their application to a course with vacant seats by submitting it to the department concerned between 15 and 17 September. The windows in both rounds are short, so check the official university notices for your programme today rather than waiting.
